Why would you use Duocel® foam for bone research?

The open-celled, interconnected structure of Duocel® foam mimics that of the cancellous bone material found in our own bodies, especially when made in the same 8-10% density. Because of gravitational and pneumatic forces applied during the forming process Duocel® foam forms elongated cells in one direction. This is similar to an elongation in trabecular bones in the direction of load stress.

Duocel® foams are used for its bio-mimicking structure in orthopedic research and testing applications.
