Heat Shielding

Duocel Reticulated Vitreous Carbon (RVC) foam is successfully being utilized in multiple heat absorption and dissipation applications. The foam is typically used as LASER energy dumps and in shielding critical components from heat. NASA and Johns Hopkins University have designed a solar probe that utilizes the RVC as the primary shield material. The satellite is set to launch in 2015.
